To the voters of the Precinct 1, Place 1
Born and raised in Wichita Falls, James Hughes is a third-generation Eagle Scout. As a young boy, James embodied the Scout Law. It prepared him to be a leader, a man of strong character who is trustworthy and loyal, courteous and kind. He learned the true meaning of perseverance, discipline, accountability and achievement. The Scout Law defines the man James is today.
At an early age, James developed a passionate interest in our local judicial system, which led him to major in Criminal Justice at Midwestern State University. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in 2000, James began a 20-year career of public service in Wichita County. His first job was in the Juvenile Probation Department as a Drill Instructor working with at-risk youth. He was promoted first to Community Service Coordinator for the Wichita County Probation Department, then to Juvenile Probation Officer.
In 2011, James was hired by Judge Mike Little to be his Truancy Case Manager. James has served continuously for the last 8 years in the Justice of the Peace office. From firsthand, linear experience, he understands fully the job of a Justice of the Peace and will fulfill these responsibilities within lessons of the Scout Law learned years ago.
